Because it is mikeneko's fault for pointing me at LibraryThing ...
The purpose of LibraryThing is, apparently, not bibiliographic but social. So tagging is intended to find like minded people, not accurate people. You're welcome to look thru my list and tell me what I have categorized wrong, because I like knowing and I care about the cataloging. On the other hand, I have all kinds of books tagged 'tech' and 'SF' which are not technical and not SF, because 'tech' and 'SF' are location tags, not content tags. Not that anyone not in my head would know that. LOL! I ought to go fix those ...
On my wish list for LibraryThing, which I share only with my friends here where it will do not good at all, is the ability to choose who I share my tags and book list with. The current choices of no one or everyone don't really satisfy my desires.
Oh yes. http://www.librarything.com
