Hmm, picked up the Ooku, latest English manga by Yoshinagi Fumi. Lovely piece of social science fiction. I have to imagine it's really interesting in Japanese, the way the English has been translated is rather odd. Makes me want to see if I can find it in Chinese for comparison.

I would guess it's full of respect language in the original. Which I wouldn't mind looking at, no fan of Yoshinaga though I am.

No clue. The reviews I've seen don't indicate the language being unusual. The English is just 'eww'. The art is typical Yoshinagi, but the story may be intriguing ... On the other hand, vol. 2 devolved at the end to being a het romance rather than a social study. Disappointing, I vaguely hope it goes back to being a society study.

I'll mail these to you in a week or two and you can see what you think.

Thanks, only don't rush. Weird English with het romance doesn't sound the stuff of rivetting reading.
